ST. CHARLES – Residents are invited to dress up their dogs and earn prizes at the 2014 St. Patrick’s Parade.

St. Charles Veterinary Clinic will host a Deck Out Your Lucky Dog Contest from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 15 in front of the St. Charles Municipal Building (City Hall) at 2 E. Main St. Dogs of all ages, breeds, colors and coats are encouraged to enter, according to a news release.

Dog owners will have a voting number for their individual dogs, and then parade attendees can vote at the Municipal Building before, during and after the parade to show support for their favorite canine. The two judging categories in the contest are Best Irish Theme and Most Unique.

The dogs with the most votes will be eligible for prizes, including a $100 gift certificate from St. Charles Veterinary Clinic, a one-year supply of heartworm, flea, and tick Preventative, an electric water fountain and more, the news release said.

The dogs are invited to walk with the other participants in the parade, which kicks off at 2 p.m. March 15 on Route 64 from Sixth Street to Fourth Avenue, according to the release.

Dog owners are encouraged to register in advance for the contest by filling out the registration form online at www.downtownstcharles.org/stpats. Owners must keep their pets on leashes at all times and pick up their pets’ waste.

All registered dogs will receive a professional photograph courtesy of Kimberly Coppert Photography.
