Face Time with Karen Suttie

South Elgin resident Karen Suttie, 39, was with her son, Alex, 5, at the Kane County Forest Preserve District’s Creek Bend Nature Center in St. Charles when she answered nine questions for Kane County Chronicle’s Brenda Schory.  

Where did you grow up? Clovis, Calif.

Pets? Two cats, Sugar and Spice

Who would play you in the movie of your life? Julia Roberts

First job? Baby-sitting

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? A sign language interpreter, and I became that. I work in Elgin School District U-46 as a substitute.

Favorite charity? Fox Valley Special Recreation

A book you’d recommend? The Bible

Favorite local restaurant? Lone Star Steakhouse in Elgin

What is an interesting factoid about yourself? My husband likes trains, so we took an Amtrak from Union Station in Chicago all the way to California when Alex was 3 years old. It took three days.
