To the Editor:
I am writing in support of Kevin Williams for Kane County sheriff. Kevin brings over 22 years of experience as a law enforcement officer and has been a lieutenant in community policing with the sheriff’s office since 2007, which brings me to the year I met him.
I have had the privilege of working with him for the past seven years to make the Elgin Township TRIAD nationally recognized by conducting over 10 presentations to thousands of Kane County senior citizens on how not to become victims of crime. Proactively, as a team, we took these presentations to many national TRIAD conferences and even appeared on ABC Chicago Channel 7 warning of scams.
Kevin has a passion for the senior citizens of this county, and no one has witnessed that more than me. He has conducted follow-up visits to seniors who have been victims. He assisted a pair of elderly sisters to assisted living when they were losing their home. He coordinated an entire program devoted to the oldest World War II senior veteran in Elgin on Veterans Day at Elgin Senior Services Associates, which was so profound for everyone who was there.
He appears at Senior Services Associates monthly for their programs and even participated in one of their variety shows, which validates how unpretentious he is. He was instrumental in coordinating a fun/educational program entitled “Who’s Knocking At [Your] Door,” demonstrating to a full house of over 300 seniors to question and ID people who knock on their door.
He is always striving to come up with new and creative ideas to keep seniors safe. He listens, and he truly cares about people. He is compassionate; he is reliable; he is resourceful; and this county would benefit to have him as our next sheriff.
Please join me in casting a vote for Kevin Williams for Kane County sheriff on March 18.
