GENEVA – Starting next month, EvenFlow Music and Spirits in downtown Geneva will have two dining options for customers.
The appropriately named Pub 302 will open to the general public within the next two weeks in the building’s lower level. The name refers to the building’s address, 302 W. State St., which sits at the corner of State and Third streets. The entrance to Pub 302 will be along Third Street.
Pub 302 is a gastropub, a concept that combines food with a pub environment.
“My chefs – Dan Emerson and Matt Gillie – do a fantastic job of matching food with beer,” said EvenFlow co-owner Mike Knuth. “It’s a beer-food pairing.”
Pub 302 will offer a separate menu from EvenFlow, and there will be a wider selection of beers, including crafts beers, Knuth said.
“There will be [12 draft lines] and more than kinds of bottled beer,” Knuth said. “People will also be able to sample the [draft] beers.”
Pub 302’s menu will include such items as jerk shrimp, a skirt steak sandwich, kobe sliders, chibatta chicken, shrimp and buffalo corn dogs. The atmosphere in Pub 302 also will be different than that of EvenFlow. For example, patrons can take in a game of foosball or darts.
“We wanted to make it more of a casual atmosphere,” Knuth said.
A grand opening for Pub 302 will take place in the next few weeks. Along with being open to the general public, Pub 302 also will be available for private events, he said. The room seats about 50 people.
Initially, Pub 302 will only be open Friday and Saturday. But Pub 302 will expand its hours as its popularity grows, Knuth said.
“When we start getting a draw for it, it will be open every day of the week,” he said.
EvenFlow Music and Spirits has carved out its own entertainment niche since opening in 2012. Along with featuring musical acts, the restaurant hosts trivia nights and other events. For information, visit www.evenflowmusic.com.
