Letter: Distortion and lies
To the Editor:
The rhetoric of distortion and lies coming from the right wing of the Republican Party is so over the top that it has become purely ridiculous. Why they think that people will buy into their con is beyond me.
Many identify themselves as Christians, believers in a creator God and protectors of family values; really, folks? So I’m supposed to believe that lying, distorting facts, denigrating others, denying voting rights, denying equal rights to gays, denying women the freedom to choose, denying access to health care insurance, and blaming the poor for their poverty and the unemployed for their unemployment is a very Christian thing to do and that this kind of behavior is consistent with “family values”?
You’ve got to be kidding!
Maybe shameful and sinful would be a more fitting description? Why don’t they see their own hypocrisy? Do they really think that Jesus would approve?
If any of them read the Bible, they must have skipped Matthew 7:15. Surely and sadly they don’t recognize themselves as the false prophet, who comes to you in sheep’s clothing. Hopefully, the rest of us will heed the Bible’s warning and see them for what they are.
