In Focus: Having a ball

A springtime tradition for me the past five years has been to attend the Kane County Cougars media day at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark in Geneva. As part of the event, the players file into the visitor clubhouse, where several photographers are lined up like an assembly line.

One by one, the players make their way to each photographer, with their names written on sheets of paper to hold in front of them, for their official head shot for the season.

Twenty minutes later, the team returns to their own clubhouse for some relaxation before heading out to the field for a practice.

This is also the time when the players sign baseballs that fill several trays splayed out on some tables.

I love this time of year. Play ball!
