Face Time with Joyce Stran

Geneva resident Joyce Stran, 84, was at the monthly meeting of the Elburn Seniors when she answered nine questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Brenda Schory.  

Where did you grow up? I lived in Geneva since I was 12. We moved there from Omaha, Neb.

Who would play you in the movie of your life? Meryl Streep

First job? At a garden farm for 10 cents an hour

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? A movie star. I became a legal secretary.

A book you’d recommend? “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” by Betty Smith, and the movie

Favorite charity? Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry

What game show would you be on? “Wheel of Fortune”

Favorite local restaurant? Portillo’s in Batavia

What is an interesting factoid about yourself? We’ve been to England, Germany, France, Hungary, Spain, Greece, Czech Republic, Russia, Belgium, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Holland, Poland, Portugal, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Estonia and Canada and the Greek Islands.
