Prep Roundup: Hausl notches no-no for St. Charles North softball

WHEATON – Allison Hausl ended the St. Charles North softball team’s two-game skid Thursday, no-hitting Wheaton Warrenville South, 9-2, in a road victory.

Hausl struck out one, walked three and never got frazzled despite four North errors.

“What she did today was she kept the ball in the infield,” North coach Tom Poulin said. “She allowed her defense to make plays and she made some plays herself.”

One of those came in the early going, when Hausl pitched out of a bases-loaded jam, snaring a line drive and doubling off the runner at first to end the inning.

Abby Howlett (three hits, five RBIs) and Sabrina Rabin (four hits) paced the offense for North (4-2).

Burlington Central 10, Harvard 0 (5 inn.): At Burlington, Central’s Emily Kisch struck out 12 in a one-hitter while contributing two hits and three RBIs. The Rockets are 5-3, 2-0 in the Big Northern Conference East.

West Aurora 5, Rosary 2: At Aurora, Sam Phelps doubled for visiting Rosary (1-6).

St. Francis 12, Immaculate Conception 0: At Wheaton, Ali Dittrich homered as St. Francis (6-2) earned a Suburban Christian Conference win.

Wheaton Academy 12, Mt. Assisi Academy 9: At West Chicago, Wheaton Academy (4-0) rallied from an 8-4 deficit entering the bottom of the third. Michelle Ridderhoff hit a grand slam for the Warriors.

BASEBALL

Geneva 10, Metea Valley 7: At Aurora, Geneva erupted for seven runs in the fifth to improve to 5-0, 2-0 UEC River. Ben Chally had two hits and notched the save in the conference crossover.

Kaneland 3, Rockton Hononegah 2 (8 inn.): At Maple Park, Anthony Holubecki earned the victory with three innings of one-hit, four-strikeout relief. Ty Carlson and Jacob Bachio drove in runs for the 2-3 Knights.

Marmion 21, Guerin 16: At Aurora, Marmion stormed back to win after trailing, 14-2, entering the bottom of the fifth. Brian Simon and Zach Siwiec drove in three runs apiece for the Cadets (3-2, 3-0 SCC).

Aurora Central Catholic 6, Wheaton Academy 4: At West Chicago, Matt Rahn pitched a complete game for ACC (9-2, 3-0 SCC).

Aurora Christian 8, St. Edward 4: At Aurora, ACS (6-2, 3-2 SCC) benefited from Drew Wagner’s six innings of three-run ball.

GIRLS SOCCER

Augsburg-Drach Invitational: Geneva defeated Schaumburg, 1-0, behind a Courtney Lardas goal off a Michaela Loebel assist. Samantha Hauser made three saves for the Vikings.

Elsewhere in Augsburg-Drach play, host St. Charles East (4-0-2) tied Naperville Central, 0-0.

Geneva and East are both 1-0-1 in tournament play leading to a match against each other in the final round Saturday.

St. Charles North 1, Wheaton Warrenville South 0: At St. Charles, Megan O’Leary tallied in the 55th minute for 5-1 North. Shelby Stitz made three saves for her third shutout this week.

West Aurora Invitational – Kaneland 2, West Aurora 1: Courtney Diddell scored twice for Kaneland (3-1).

Geneva 7, Elgin 0: At Elgin, Geneva rolled to an UEC River dual victory. John Potts and Ryan Doeckel were winners at No. 1 doubles.

Batavia 6, East Aurora 1: At Aurora, Batavia moved to 3-0 as Andrew Nelson and Emerson Hinzy won, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 doubles.

Marmion 7, Montini 0: At Lombard, Marmion lost just three games in the SCC romp. Ricky Angsten and Kevin Hoss won, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles.

BOYS WATER POLO

St. Charles North 9, Neuqua Valley 7: At Naperville, North notched its first-ever win against the perennial power Wildcats on the strength of two Nick Traxler goals in the final 4:10. Traxler finished with five goals for the North Stars (9-3-1), while Ross Davis and Tim Steele both had four steals.

Metea Valey def. Geneva, 2-0 (25-10, 25-21): At Aurora, David Franz had 13 assists for Geneva.
