Aurora resident Maria Malayter 46, was on her way to Geneva’s 60 Men Who Cook fundraiser in St. Charles when she answered 11 questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Brenda Schory.  

Where did you grow up? Darien

Pets? A cat named Oreo

Who would play you in the movie of your life? Sandra Bullock

First job? Shampoo girl

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? A mailman. I became a professor specializing in leadership and organizational change.

A book you’d recommend? “How to Forgive When You Can’t: A Breakthrough Guide to Free Your Heart and Mind” by Jim Dincalci

Favorite charity? Compassion International. I sponsor a 10-year-old girl in Peru.

What game show would you be on? “The Price is Right”

Do you play an instrument? The drums, and I sing

Favorite local restaurant? Aliano’s Ristorante in Bataiva

What is an interesting factoid about yourself? I gave a military retirement speech, and I was not in the military, and all the retirements were women.
