Geneva woman dies in Plato Township motorcycle crash

PLATO TOWNSHIP – A 54-year-old Geneva woman died Saturday when the motorcycle she was driving went off the road and struck a guardrail on eastbound Route 20, west of Switzer Road, according to a news release from the Kane County Sheriff's Office.

According to the release, Sharon Schultz, of the 700 block of Lancaster Lane in Geneva, was driving a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle, when, at 3:10 p.m. Saturday, the vehicle left the road. Police said it's still unknown why Schultz's motorcycle left the road.

According to the release, Schultz was taken to Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, where she was pronounced deceased. Police said Schultz was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and that the motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the incident. Schultz was the only one on the motorcycle, police added.
