Sentencing set for former S. Elgin man charged with child porn

A former South Elgin man charged with child pornography has entered a blind plea and will be sentenced in June, according to Kane County court records.

David B. Hauge, 49, was charged in November 2012 with aggravated child pornography, a Class X felony, and child pornography, a Class 2 felony, after members of the South Elgin Police Department, Kane County Sheriff's Office and Geneva Police Department conducted a search warrant at his home.
Police have reported that Hauge had several depictions and videos of child pornography.

Court records indicate Hauge entered a blind or cold guilty plea Wednesday on the child pornography charge. Because it was a blind plea, no sentencing agreement was in place, and the judge will decide his sentence based on the attorneys’ arguments, a spokesperson with the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office said.

Judge Karen M. Simpson is expected to conduct the sentencing hearing June 18 at the Kane County Judicial Center in St. Charles Township, records show.

The aggravated child pornography charge has been dismissed.

Court records indicate Hauge now lives in Elburn.
