ST. CHARLES – An 18-year-old St. Charles resident received a citation after he was involved Wednesday morning in a crash involving at least five vehicles on West Main Street at Fifth Street, police said.

Troy G. Musillami was cited for defective brakes following the crash, which St. Charles police and fire responded to at 8:06 a.m., said Lisa Blackwell, St. Charles police spokeswoman.

"There were multiple patients assessed; two were transported [to hospitals], and the rest signed refusals [for treatment]," St. Charles Fire Chief Joe Schelstreet said.

A male, who was not Musillami, and a female were taken to hospitals for minor injuries, Blackwell said. There were three other males involved in the crash, Schelstreet said.

The crash started as a rear-end collision that resulted in five cars being pushed into each other in a Main Street eastbound lane, Blackwell said. Further details were not immediately available Wednesday afternoon.

Traffic was affected in the hour following the crash. The crash scene was clear by 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Blackwell said.
