Kane County Sheriff’s Office police reports

• A laptop computer was reported stolen Monday, April 21, from Mooseheart, 155 S. International Drive, Mooseheart.

• A resident of the 42W900 block of Empire Road in Campton Township reported Tuesday, April 22, she was the victim of identity theft after getting a notice from the Internal Revenue Service regarding a 2013 tax return she did not file.

• A resident of the 5N700 block of Route 31, St. Charles, reported a scam Tuesday, April 22. She reportedly got a call from a company purportedly selling anti-virus software. She reportedly bought it for $260 and allowed remote access to her computer. Several pop-up windows asked for her credit card confirmation, and she did not recognize the name or credit card number on the confirmation, she told police. When she called the number provided by the company, the person who answered had no knowledge of the situation.
