Goody's in St. Charles now closed

Properties in both Elburn and St. Charles were sold for future Dunkin' Donuts stores, said Marv Vestuto of Vestuto Real Estate.

Vestuto recently sold an outlot on Route 47 in front of the Jewel store, 800 N. Main St., Elburn, to Dunkin' Donuts franchisee Vishal Vaghani.

"They're going to put a brand new building there," Vestuto said Tuesday.

Vaghani owns at least three other Dunkin' Donuts locations, Vestuto said. Vestuto estimates that construction on the Elburn Dunkin' Donuts will begin in a few months after Vaghani obtains a building permit and other paperwork.

Another Dunkin' Donuts franchisee purchased the former Goody's Fast Food site located at 2057 Lincoln Highway in St. Charles. The business officially closed after manager Lorenzo Alba auctioned off equipment on April 22, Vestuto said. Vestuto was the listing agent for the Goody's site.

The Lincoln Highway Dunkin' Donuts will use the existing drive-thru in the Goody's building. The building will be converted into two units, one for Dunkin' Donuts and the owner will lease out the other unit, Vestuto said.

Members of the Alba family have no current plans to reopen or relocate the St. Charles Goody's, Vestuto said.

The former Goody's site would be the second Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant in St. Charles after the 1711 W. Main St. location. The business sells several varieties of doughnuts, coffee, sandwiches, bagels and more.
