Face Time with Bob Shewalter

St. Charles resident Bob Shewalter, 58, was at the Wasco Nursery when he answered 10 questions for the Kane County Chronicle's Brenda Schory.  

Where did you grow up? Geneva.

Pets? A golden retriever named Boston.

Who would play you in the movie of your life? Anthony Edwards.

First job? At Jewel.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? A baseball player. I became a manager at Jewel.

A book you'd recommend? The Mitch Rapp series by Vince Flynn.

Favorite charity? Lazarus House.

What game show would you be on? "Jeopardy."

Favorite local restaurant? Little Owl in Geneva.

What is an interesting factoid about yourself? In the late 1960s, the city dropped pingpong balls with promotions to local stores in the street from the firefighters' snorkel. In the ensuing melee, I dove in and got buried by big kids and was knocked unconscious. I had a pingpong ball from Robbins Book Shop for a book. They had to pry it out of my cold "dead" hands.
