Published: Thursday, May 8, 2014 4:50 p.m. CST

As part of Mooseheart Child City and School’s Healthy Recipe Cook Off on May 7, three family teachers – Deanna White (from left), Amy King and Melissa Meeks – cooked up nutritious recipes, such as Black Bean Burgers on Sweet Red Pepper “Buns” without bread; “Fried” Rice using cauliflower instead of rice; and a Three Bean Chili with garbanzo beans.

The contest was  part of an ongoing campaign to eat healthy at Mooseheart – a residential home and school for more than 200 disadvantaged children.
