Locals to be honored at Daughters of the American Revolution luncheon

ST. CHARLES – Jayne Cates and Pam Otto are being recognized by the national Daughters of the American Revolution for their work in community service and history.

The two women will be honored by the local Elias Kent Kane chapter at a National Awards Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 7, at the Elgin Country Club, 2575 Weld Road, Elgin.

Cates, an accomplished genealogist, will be receiving the National History Award for her work in authoring “Revolutionary Soldiers of Illinois.” Written in conjunction with the Illinois State Genealogy Society, the local DAR chapter is working to donate the book to all area high schools and public libraries.

Otto will be presented the National Conservation Award for her dedication to the Fox River Ecosystem Partnership, in addition to spearheading a variety of nature programs throughout the area.

The event is open to the public. Tickets cost $25.
