Geneva middle schools announce changes
GENEVA – Geneva School District announced Tuesday its participation in a new middle school athletic conference, effective in the fall.
Beginning in the 2014-15 school year, Geneva Middle Schools North and South will join the Fox River Prairie Conference, which will also include the following schools: Haines, Thompson, and Wredling middle schools in St. Charles; Yorkville Middle School; Kaneland’s Harter Middle School in Sugar Grove; and Rotolo Middle School in Batavia.
“Our athletic programs help our students to develop the many positive character traits that come from belonging to a team,” said Jane Schwartz, assistant principal of Geneva Middle School South. “I’m excited at the prospect of partnering with the other schools in our new conference for the benefit of all students.”
In addition to joining the conference, Geneva Middle Schools North and South will combine their football teams to create one campus middle school team. This same approach was taken this school year with the creation of one campus cheerleading team.
