St. Charles man dies after suffering 'medical event' at Kane County jail

ST. CHARLES TOWNSHIP – A 25-year-old St. Charles man died Tuesday afternoon after suffering a "medical event" while he was at the Kane County jail, according to a news release issued by the Kane County Sheriff's Office.

According to the release, Albert Love, of the 200 block of Grand Ridge Road in St. Charles, suffered a "medical event" at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. He was treated by medical staff, and it was determined that he could return to his cell, according to the release. But a short time later, after he was returned to his cell, he was found unresponsive.

He was taken to Delnor Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the release. According to the release, there were no signs of trauma, and it does not appear to be a suicide attempt. The Kane County Coroner's Office conducted an autopsy and issued a news release indicating that the preliminary cause of death is pulmonary embolism. Toxicology samples were sent for analysis, according to the release.

Love had been brought to the jail on March 27 on a felony charge of damage to property in St. Charles. He was next due in court for a status hearing on June 4.

The Sheriff's Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
