Improve your smile with Dr. Murphy

Batavia dentist Ronald Murphy loves to see his patients smile.

That’s why he has been practicing general and cosmetic dentistry for 12 years. His office, located at 1605 W. Wilson St., Suite 114, offers several ways to improve your smile, including tooth whitening, bonding, porcelain veneers, porcelain crowns and more, depending on the patient’s needs.

Murphy said he hears from patients two-to-three times daily who are unhappy with their smiles, most complaining of dull, yellow teeth, or teeth that do not match. His recommendations vary from patient to patient.

“It depends on the person’s desires,” he said. “(If it is) a person who is unhappy with the color only, then it is simpler, such as whitening. But, when a person has teeth that are damaged due to tooth decay, it will be better to restore the teeth with a crown or veneer.”

For those unhappy with the straightness of their teeth, Murphy offers solutions for all ages.

“Straightening teeth for a person of any age usually can be done,” he said. “This will improve not only the cosmetic appearance of the person, but also can improve the health of the gum tissue by aligning the teeth so that the person can more easily keep their teeth clean and gums healthy.”

The extent of cosmetic procedures really depends on the individual’s preference, and varies from situation to situation.

“For example, I have had several young adults in activities that had experienced trauma to the mouth and broke a couple of teeth,” Murphy said. “For these cases, I was able to use tooth colored material to restore the broken (or) missing area and these young men, and both of their moms, said thank you after I was done because it looked like the accident never happened. But, every person is different and the options are different for every person.”
