Drowning victim identified; investigation ongoing

ST. CHARLES – A 4-year-old boy who drowned at a country club pool Saturday was identified as Paulino F. Delle Grazie of St. Charles, Kane County Coroner Rob Russell said in a statement.

Paulino was found unresponsive in a swimming pool at the Royal Fox Country Club in St. Charles, officials said. A preliminary autopsy Monday showed the boy died from drowning, Russell said. Toxicology has been sent to a forensic lab.

St. Charles police and paramedics were called to Royal Fox, 4405 Royal and Ancient Drive, shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday, where they took the boy to Delnor.

Police, the coroner's office and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services are investigating.

St. Charles Police spokeswoman Lisa Blackwell said they had no other information to release.

"We are looking at the incident, and we contacted DCFS," Blackwell said. "It is under investigation, and we can't answer any questions at this time."

Paulino was pronounced dead at 4:11 p.m. Saturday at Delnor Hospital in Geneva
