Face Time with Karen Boyce

Karen Boyce, 73, was at a group garage sale in St. Charles when she answered seven questions for Kane County Chronicle intern Melissa Hutter. 

Where did you grow up? I was born in Oak Park, I moved to Minneapolis, and then I moved to Glen Ellyn.

First job? Baby-sitter

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? A teacher. I am a retired secretary.

A book you’d recommend? “The Book Thief” by Markus Zusak

Favorite charity? American Cancer Society

Favorite local restaurant? Wildwood in Geneva

What is an interesting factoid about yourself? I am a 23-year breast cancer survivor.
