Hultgren announces 16 students selected for U.S. military service academies

U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren, R-Winfield, announced Tuesday that 16 students he nominated from Illinois’ 14th Congressional District were selected and will be attending United States military service academies in the fall of 2014, according to a news release.

Factors such as academic achievements, extracurricular activities, leadership skills, physical aptitude, character and motivation were taken into consideration when determining nominees, the release stated.
“These 16 outstanding individuals represent the best of what the 14th District has to offer,” Hultgren said, according to a news release. “Our nation's military is looking for bright, motivated, and above all service-minded students to lead our armed forces. I am proud to nominate these students to our nation’s top military education institutions, and look forward to observing their developing careers in public service.”
