Editor’s Notebook: Celebrating Chronicle subscribers

Kane County Chronicle subscribers who also are fans of Kane County Cougars baseball are invited to take advantage of a special offer.

The Chronicle is hosting a subscriber night at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark in Geneva on Thursday, when the Cougars will face the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Game time is 6:30 p.m.

One longtime subscriber who plans to attend the game is Lee Richardson of Geneva.

Lee has been a subscriber of the Chronicle for about 25 years and said it’s his favorite newspaper. Recently retired, he likes reading the Chronicle for a variety of reasons.

“I like keeping up with the current events and the happenings in the area,” he said, noting that he often is looking for events and activities to attend, such as local concerts and festivals.

Though he hasn’t been to a Cougars game yet this season, Lee said he’s looking forward to seeing a team that has been successful this year.

“I just like going out all the time and trying different things,” he said. “And I enjoy the Cougars.”

Another Chronicle subscriber who has tickets for Thursday’s game is Dave Klussendorf of Batavia.

Dave has been a subscriber of the paper for about four years. A former coach, he said he likes the Chronicle because it has “more local sports than anyone else around.”

He added that he’s been to several Cougars games this season.

“Cougars are just an exciting night out,” he said. “The baseball entertainment and so on, the between-innings stuff. It’s ... relatively close, and they’ve got some good food there.”

The first 50 Chronicle subscribers to email will receive a free family four-pack of tickets for the game on Thursday.
