BATAVIA – The Ravine House is an example of the distinctive Prairie School style of Frank Lloyd Wright, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is one of five homes featured in the 2014 Batavia House Walk. This year's event will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 28.
The walk concludes with a tea that offers visitors desserts, beverages, entertainment and an art exhibit. The event has grown in popularity from year to year, and presale tickets are available for the September walk.
Tickets purchased in advance are $25 and may be purchased online at www.downtownbatavia.com or by calling 630-761-3528. Tickets, if available, are $30 the day of the event.
A committee of community volunteers plans the House Walk each year, which benefits Batavia MainStreet and its efforts to continue the revitalization of downtown Batavia. The Kane County Chronicle is the presenting sponsor for 2014.
For information or to volunteer for the Batavia House Walk, call the Batavia MainStreet office at 630-761-3528.
