To the Editor:
After the Bush lies about WMDs, 4,500 U.S. military deaths, over 32,000 wounded soldiers and about $2 trillion, the Republican war mongers want President Obama to get militarily involved to “save” Iraq from the despot we helped install and supported for years. Dick Cheney, Lindsey Graham and John McCain lead a bunch of neo-cons that want to waste more blood and treasure to bail out al-Maliki and his corrupt Shiite administration in Bagdad.
Not only don’t the Republicans believe in science, but I guess they don’t read history either. Do they know what happened to the French and Americans supporting Diem in South Vietnam? Do they know that we are about where the British and Russians were before us in Iraq? You would think they would want to avoid getting bogged down in Iraq again.
Why do the Republicans blame Obama for the disaster in Iraq? He inherited the mess and finally got us out. And now they expect him to repeat the mistakes they made originally under Bush? What are the GOP leaders smoking?
Why is it that the Republicans refuse to spend on a minimum wage hike, refuse to extend unemployment, refuse to pass immigration reform, refuse to lower student debt, refuse to invest in infrastructure, refuse to address climate change and refuse to extend Medicaid or whatever Obama proposes? But now they want him to spend billions in Iraq to extend the Bush legacy of death and destruction?
Maybe the Republican war mongers can convince the Koch brothers to spend their billions defending al-Maliki in Iraq instead of electing more tea party people?
