St. Charles set for Fourth of July Celebration

ST. CHARLES – The annual St. Charles July Fourth Celebration will take place Friday, July 4. The fireworks extravaganza can be viewed at Pottawatomie Park, 8 North Ave., St. Charles, or Ferson Creek Park, on Route 31, east of Wildrose Springs Drive, St. Charles.

The event is free because of support of local businesses, including the St. Charles Park District, the city of St. Charles, First State Bank and the St. Charles Breakfast Rotary. Pottawatomie Park opens at 8 a.m. Picnic tables will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Patrons should bring their own tables, blankets and lawn chairs.

Picnic-style offerings, including hot dogs, bratwurst, ice cream, popcorn and soft drinks, will be served at rates from the River View Miniature Golf concessions, which will remain open until 9:15 p.m. The River View Miniature Golf Course will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The cost for 18 holes is $6 for adults, $5 for children and $2 for infants 5 years old or younger.

Swanson Pool will open at noon for St. Charles Park District residents and season pass holders, and will open at 12:30 p.m. for non-residents. The cost is $7 for residents and $10 for non-residents. The pool will close at 6 p.m. The Fox Valley Concert Band will entertain from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the amphitheater. The Student Body band will entertain in the pavilion from 6 p.m. to dark.
