Geneva library board seeks applicants to fill vacancy

Published: Monday, July 7, 2014 10:24 p.m. CST

GENEVA – The Geneva Library board is seeking to fill a vacancy left after the June 26 resignation of Steve Andersson.

Andersson resigned to pursue his campaign for State Representative in the Nov. 4 general election. Andersson is seeking the seat of State Rep. Tim Schmitz, R-Batavia, who is not seeking another term. Andersson won the Republican primary in March and is running unopposed.

The appointment will be until the date of the next library election in April 2015, when the appointee would have to stand for election to retain the seat.

Library district trustees must be a U.S. citizen, age 18 or older, a resident of the library district and a registered voter. Applications for the vacancy and information packets are available at the library checkout desk, 127 James St., Geneva.

Applications must be returned to the library by 5 p.m. July 31 to be considered.

Library board members will interview applicants in August.

For information, contact Library Director Christine Lazaris at 232-0780, ext. 246.
