Letter: Obama’s international affairs

To the Editor:

Why doesn’t Obama have any real support in international politics?

That’s an easy question to answer. Obama has no voter/popularity base in the international realm to which he can appeal. There is no one out there that gives a darn about what he says. There are no votes to be won for him and those that hang onto him.

The Syrians drew their own lines in the sand; Israel ignores him; al-Qaida hopes he wins at third term; Merkel wants him to stop spying; and Putin plays him like an old fiddle.

There’s nothing Obama can offer the international community. Maybe if he relied less on empty threats and broken promises, it would be different.
