Summer festivals, shows in Kane County

Windmill City Festival, July 10-13

Windmill City Festival features the Windmill Whirl 5K race, live music, a craft show and flea market, live band karaoke, a diaper derby, bags tournament, pet parade, an ice-cream eating contest and more. Admission is free. Visit windmillcityfest.org for a complete schedule.

Kane County Fair, July 16-20

The Kane County Fair is set for July 16 to 20 at the Kane County Fairgrounds in St. Charles. Grandstand highlights include FMX freestyle motocross, professional championship bull riding and a demolition derby. Daily outdoor events feature a carnival, racing pigs, a tiger show and cow-milking demonstrations. The tentative 4-H schedule includes livestock judging, a milking derby, a horse and pony dressage show and a blue ribbons sale. A commercial expo will be held in the Prairie Events Center and musical acts will be featured each day.

Admission is $5 on July 16 and 17 and $10 for adults and $5 for ages 3 to 12 on July 18 to 20. A five-day season pass is $20 for fair admission. Admission is free for children younger than three years old. Visit kanecountyfair.com for more information.

Sugar Grove Corn Boil, July 25-27

The Sugar Grove Corn Boil offers a full slate of activities from Friday through Sunday. Among the highlights: the opening parade and ceremony, which features the announcement of the Sugar Grove Citizen of the Year; live music; events such as bingo each day, and a kid zone Saturday and Sunday; fireworks on Saturday night; and two cooking competitions, including the traditional Corn Boil Cooking Challenge.

North Aurora Days, Aug. 1-3

North Aurora Days offers an array of activities. The festival features the popular emergency vehicle lights and sirens parade, a pet parade, rides, games, live music, the Run for the Riverfront, a children fishing derby, community breakfast, softball games and baggo tournament. Elburn Days, Aug. 15-17

The 85th annual Elburn Days will be held in mid-August. The Elburn Lions Club sponsors the event and proceeds go to Elburn Lions Charities. Visit elburnlions.com/elburn-days/ for more information.
