Face Time with Barbara Stevens
LaFox resident Barbara Stevens, 51, was at the Elburn Chow Down event at the Elburn and Countryside Community Center when she answered eight questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Al Lagattolla.
Where did you grow up? West side of Aurora
Pets? Two dogs, Josie and Teddy, two mini dachshunds
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? A teacher
Did you become that? I teach at Lord of Life preschool.
Is there a book or movie you would recommend? I am reading “The Count of Monte Cristo” right now, with my daughter, who is going to be a freshman in high school. In church, we are reading “The Jesus I Never Knew.”
Do you have a favorite charity? We do a lot with the Elburn Food Pantry. Our church is involved in that.
Who is in your family? My husband, Kyle. We’ve been married for 28 years. And I have a 15-year-old daughter and an 11-year-old daughter.
What is an interesting factoid about yourself? My husband and I used to race Porsche cars. He was an instructor when we lived in Michigan, and I was a student. After we had kids, we had to give it up.
