Batavia club donates to Feed the Kids program

Published: Thursday, July 17, 2014 4:34 p.m. CDT

The Batavia Mother’s Club Foundation recently donated $2,000 to the Humanitarian Service Project’s Feed the Kids program.

The project’s Feed the Kids program provides groceries to impoverished families. During the long summer months when children do not receive federally subsidized meals from schools, the grocery packages provide necessary nutrients in the form of 15 varieties of fresh fruits and vegetables, seven frozen meat packages, three boxes of non-perishables and, at least, four loaves of bread, states a news release.

The donation was made as part of the club’s efforts to support local nonprofits throughout the greater Fox Valley area, states the release. In order to raise money for organizations like the Humanitarian Service Project, each year the club hosts fundraisers like the Fox Trot 5K and 10K.

Batavia Mother’s Club has donated to the project for the last five years, allowing the club to help combat hunger in DuPage and Kane counties, the release states.
