Face Time with Mark Gannon
Sleepy Hollow resident Mark Gannon, 55, was biking from Sleepy Hollow to Sycamore when he stopped at the Great Western Trail Horlock Hill Prairie in St. Charles and answered eight questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Brenda Schory.
Where did you grow up? DeWitt, Iowa

First job? Baling hay when I was 14.
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? An engineer, and I am one.
Favorite charity? I’m a member of the Knights of Columbus

Favorite local restaurant? Ray’s Evergreen Tavern in St. Charles
What is an interesting factoid about yourself? This will be the 10th year I have biked across Iowa as part of the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa – or RAGBRAI. It’s about 450 to 500 miles and takes about seven days. It’s sponsored by the Des Moines Register. It starts July 20. I’m training for the ride now, riding from Sleepy Hollow to Sycamore and back.
