The paper received first place in the contest’s Class A category. In addition, Shaw Media, which owns the Kane County Chronicle, received 11 awards and was among the top company winners in the contest.

“We are very excited by the news that we’ve been named as having the best community website,” said Jim Ringness, general manager for Shaw Media’s Kane County operation. “It is truly a team effort. We will continue to strive to bring the best digital and print versions to our readers moving forward.”

The Local Media Association is the only nonprofit, professional trade association specifically serving the local media industry, according to its website.

“Congratulations to all our winners for their outstanding successes and well-deserved honors,” read a statement from the association.
