Man dies in tractor accident in Geneva Township

GENEVA TOWNSHIP – An Elgin man died in unincorporated Geneva Township on Sunday after he became trapped under a tractor, according to a Kane County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 32W600 block of Fabyan Parkway, where they learned Joel Bork, 47, was operating a light-weight front-loaded tractor on his family farm and got trapped beneath the machinery when it flipped, police said.

Police said it is unknown why the tractor flipped over. Bork reportedly was alone at the time of the incident.

Relatives began looking for him when he hadn’t been seen in a few hours, police said, noting they were the ones who called 911.

Bork, of the 1400 block of Getzelman Road, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Bork’s obituary from Moss Family Funeral Home, visitation is set from 6 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia. A memorial service will follow at 8 p.m.
