The unknown soldier wooden statue that stood outside the Custom Furniture business for over 30 years was dismantled Wednesday. The soldiers was purchased by Clint Carney and will be restored and reassembled in Pingree Grove. Richard and Carolyn Pakan, recent owners of Custom Furniture in St. Charles, faced the task of selling the over 30-year-old wooden statue of the unknown Revolutionary soldier. A kickstart campaign titled Save the Revolutionary Soldier is open to accept donations to assist in the restoration of the folk art.
