BATAVIA – Two people were transported to area hospitals after a water rescue Wednesday night near Funway.

Batavia and Geneva fire departments arrived at 8:04 p.m. for a water rescue for three people in the Fox River. When firefighters arrived, two of the individuals were already out of the water.

"A third person was still in the water, but we were able to talk him out of the water," Batavia Fire Lt. Ralph Strange said.

He said the individuals, who were minors, were "impaired" at the time of the incident.

Two of the individuals were transported to area hospitals for evaluation, while a third person did not require hospitalization.

"Nobody drowned, which was a good thing," Strange said.
