BATAVIA – One person was taken to Delnor Hospital Friday after a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash on the city's east side, Batavia Fire Lt. Richard Rubo said.

The Batavia police and fire departments were dispatched at 6:06 p.m. Friday to the crash, which occurred at Wilson and Van Buren streets in Batavia.

Valerie Taylor of Yorkville said she was one of several people who called 911 during the incident. She said she saw a male in the street and what appeared to be a bicycle or another object under a car.

"A lot of people stopped, and a few [were] trying to help," Taylor wrote in an e-mail Saturday.

One person in the incident was taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva, but Rubo was not working at the time of the crash and did not have an update on the person's condition.

The fire units were cleared from the scene at 6:24 p.m. Friday, Rubo said.

Batavia police on Saturday did not immediately return messages seeking comment on the incident.
