1. North Aurora Days

WHEN: Friday, Aug. 1, through Sunday, Aug. 3

WHERE: Clocktower plaza at Randall Road and Oak Street in North Aurora

COST/INFO: The North Aurora Days festival will feature live music; food vendors and a beer and wine tent; a used book sale at Messenger Public Library; a pet parade; the emergency vehicle lights and sirens parade; a car, truck and bike show; fishing derby; Run for the Riverfront; rides and games; fireworks; and more. 2. Fox Valley Irish Festival

WHEN: 1 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2

WHERE: RiverEdge Park, 360 N. Broadway St., Aurora

COST/INFO: The Fox Valley Irish Festival will feature live music by the Tossers, Bogside Zukes and Anish on the Main Stage. Family-friendly activities will include a petting zoo, freckle contest, ice cream-eating contest, Irish crafts for kids, bag pipers, Irish dancers, a bounce house, food vendors and face painting. Activites more geared toward adults will include a Jameson whiskey tasting, Irish beer, a hurling demo, Guinness glass etching and Irish authors Mary Pat Kelly and Conor Cunneen. 3. Marvel Day at Barnes & Noble

WHEN: Saturday, Aug. 2

WHERE: Barnes & Noble, 102 Commons Drive, Geneva

COST/INFO: Barnes & Noble in the Geneva Commons will host Marvel Day as part of Get Pop-Cultured with Barnes & Noble, a pop culture celebration running through Sunday, Aug. 10, in its stores nationwide. As part of Marvel Day, there will be activities, giveaways and product offerings. As part of the celebration, NFL player and "The Protectors" comics creator Israel Idonije will sign autographs beginning at 2 p.m. (Purchase of a "The Proctectors" comic is required for a signature.)

4. Southern Rock Reunion concert

WHEN: 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3

WHERE: Festival Park, 132 S. Grove Ave., Elgin

COST/INFO: Grand Victoria Casino in Elgin will present The Southern Rock Reunion concert, featuring The Marshall Tucker Band, Molly Hatchett, The Outlaws and The Artimus Pile Band (of Lynyrd Skynyrd). 5. The World of Faeries Festival

WHEN: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3.

WHERE: Vasa Park, along Route 31, in South Elgin

COST/INFO: One of the oldest fairy festivals in Illinois, "The World Of Faeries Festival," will host its 10th annual festival, “Celebration of the Dragon,” states a news release. The festival will showcase local musicians, and fairy artisans will display their talents and skills in the vendor village. Families are encouraged to dress in festive costumes and attire.
