Geneva's Viking war ship on display

GENEVA – Geneva's replicated Viking war ship will be open for guided and self-guided tours from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, at Good Templar Park, 528 East Side Drive in Geneva.

Built in Norway, and sailed across the Atlantic for the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, the black-oak ship is 78 feet long, 17 feet wide, and 6.5 feet high from the bottom of the keel to the gunwale.

Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for teens. Parking is free.

The life-sized exhibit is sponsored by Friends of the Viking Ship, a St. Charles-based nonprofit.
