SUGAR GROVE – A special meeting of the Kaneland School District 302 Board is set for Monday, the board's first meeting since Superintendent Jeff Schuler announced that he is leaving to become the superintendent in Wheaton Warrenville School District 200.

The board meets at 6 p.m. at Kaneland Harter Middle School, 1601 Esker Drive, Sugar Grove. The agenda includes approval of Schuler's resignation, as well as the approval of employment for several who will be starting in new positions.

The action will approve Schuler's resignation, which will be effective on Sept. 1. Also, the board is expected to go into executive session during tonight's meeting.

The Kaneland board is not scheduled to meet again until Monday, Aug. 25, but Cheryl Krauspe, the board's president, said it is possible that more meetings could be added as the board looks to hire a new superintendent. In a statement last week, she called the decision "perhaps the most important one a board of education can make."
