BATAVIA – Those who attend Saturday’s Green Fair on the Fox will find out how to make their lives more eco-friendly.
The Green Fair will feature an eco-marketplace, as well as local businesses, organizations and individuals raising awareness about sustainable living, physical fitness and healthy living. The event previously was known as Batavia Green Walk.
“The new name reflects more of what the event is about,” said Joi Cuartero, executive director of Batavia MainStreet, which is partnering with the Batavia Park District, city of Batavia and the Batavia Environmental Commission to present Green Fair on the Fox.
The event will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Batavia Riverwalk at Houston Street and North Island Avenue in downtown Batavia. There also will be exhibits inside the Batavia Government Center, and the event is being held in conjunction with the Batavia Farmers’ Market, which runs from 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday through Oct. 18 on River Street in downtown Batavia.
Those who attend can participate in a free Zumba class at 10 a.m. led by Batavia Park District fitness director Kathy Freedlund. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m., and the class is expected to last between 30 and 45 minutes.
Participants also can take part in an alternative transportation show by bringing their green car, bicycle or other form of transportation to the Batavia Riverwalk, where they can show it off.
