Elburn Days to feature pie-baking contest

ELBURN – New to the Elburn Days festival this year will be a pie-baking contest, which will take place on Sunday, Aug. 17, at the festival at Lions Park, 500 Filmore St., Elburn.

Registration takes place from 8 to 9 a.m., with judging to start at 10 a.m. The announcement of winners and prizes is set for 10:45 a.m. The grand prize is $100. The first prize for each category will be $50, and the runner-up for each category will receive a $25 prize. For official rules, visit the Elburn Chamber of Commerce website at www.elburn.com.

Categories will be fruit, nut and other. Pies should be brought to the site for registration on the morning of the event. There should be no pies that require refrigeration, such as dairy, cream or meat pies. There will be at least three judges in each category.
