GENEVA – The Mill Creek Pool was officially named a facility of the Geneva Park District at the closing on July 28, according to a news release issued by the park district. According to the release, discussions began in the winter as Shodeen approached the Geneva Park District regarding taking over the daily operations and management of the pool.
“On behalf of our community, the Geneva Park District Board and staff are grateful to the Shodeen family for their generosity in donating the Mill Creek Pool to the Geneva Park District,” said Sheavoun Lambillotte, executive director of the Geneva Park District, according to the release. “Having an additional pool allows us to increase our community outreach through offering expanded options for lap swim as well as our nationally recognized swim lesson program."
More than 180 gold pool passes were sold this summer, and nearly 300 children participated in swim lessons, according to the release. Gold pool passes allow residents and nonresidents to be members at both Sunset and Mill Creek pools.
The Geneva Park District has been operating Mill Creek Pool since its opening day of June 7. The pool will remain open through Sunday, Aug. 24. Mill Creek Pool is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. For information, visit www.genevaparks.org or call 630-232-4542.
