ST. CHARLES – A 27-year-old St. Charles man has been charged with one count of aggravated battery in an incident that took place Monday night in the 100 block of North 15th Street in St. Charles.

Marcos Antonio Perez-Velasco, 27, of the 1800 block of Covington Court, St. Charles, was charged with aggravated battery to cause great bodily harm, a felony. He is in custody in the Kane County Jail on a $25,000 bail.

St. Charles Police spokeswoman Lisa Blackwell said Perez-Velasco knew the victim.

"They were acquaintances," she said. "It was an isolated incident just between the two of them."

According to a news release from the St. Charles Police Department, a witness reported seeing a man with serious face injuries. Police located the victim, identified as a 54-year-old man, in an apartment on North 15th Street.

The victim had cuts on his face, as well as bite marks on his body, police said. He was taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva for treatment, and police said his medical status is not known.

Perez-Velasco was later identified as a suspect. Police said he had what appeared to be blood on him, as well as wounds to his hands.
