Carpentersville resident Karen Castillo, 38, was volunteering at a fundraiser for Homes for Endangered and Lost Pets at Mill Creek Golf Club when she answered 10 questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Brenda Schory.

Where did you grow up? Chicago.

Pets? Four dogs, an Amstaff named Mia, a Newfoundland named Abby, A boxer-pitbull mix named Bindi and a black Lab named Libby. They are all rescues.

Who would play you in the movie of your life? Scarlett Johansson.

First job? Selling newspapers door to door.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? I always wanted to rescue animals, and now I do. I’ve fostered more than 40 dogs, saved a squirrel and once gave CPR to an injured chipmunk, and it survived. What I do for a living is work as a retirement manager.

A book you’d recommend? “Martha Stewart’s Homekeeping Handbook: The Essential Guide to Caring for Everything in Your Home” by Martha Stewart.

Favorite charity? Homes for Endangered and Lost Pets.

What game show would you be on? “Wheel of Fortune.”

Favorite local restaurant? Salerno’s on the Fox in St. Charles.

What is an interesting factoid about yourself? I improvised on stage with Tim Meadows at Second City.
