The south lane of Galena Boulevard will be closed between Lincoln Avenue and Fourth Street as crews work to install a series of rain gardens. The rain gardens are designed to divert rainwater and reduce the number of occasional sewage backups that can occur in homes and in the Fox River during heavy storms, the release stated.

As a part of the project, Fourth Street will be closed to through traffic between Downer Place and Galena Boulevard. All access drives to businesses within in the work area will remain open.
