District 303 middle schools to close early because of heat, humidity

ST. CHARLES – Because of today's expected heat and humidity, students at Haines and Thompson middle schools, in St. Charles School District 303, will be dismissed at 1 p.m. After-school activities at the schools have been canceled.

According to a news release, district officials have extra water available for students and staff, and the release stated that students and staff would be rotated into air-conditioned spaces in the buildings until 1 p.m. Bus routes will run their regular afternoon dismissal beginning at 1 p.m.

According to www.weather.com, the temperature in St. Charles was 88 degrees by 12:30 p.m., with an expected high of 91.
