BATAVIA – Support staff members at Batavia School District 101 have a new four-year contract.

Batavia School Board members Tuesday approved the agreement at their meeting.

The contract with the Batavia Educational Support Professional Association expired June 30.

Association members, by a vote of 61 to 19, approved the agreement Aug. 13. The new contract includes a 65-cent hourly increase for support staff in the 2014-15 school year, with a future hourly increase tied to the consumer price index used in the district’s tax levy.

Other highlights of the new contract include:

• Expansion of insurance benefits for dependent coverage.

• Modifying the work year for early childhood paraprofessionals.

• Creating a staff development calendar for BESPA employees.

The school district also has been in negotiations with the Batavia Education Association, the union representing the district’s teachers, for a new contract.

The association had been slated to vote on the new contract on Wednesday.

A special school board meeting has been tentatively set for 6 p.m. Tuesday to vote on a new contract for teachers.
