Barn fire claims lives of 2 horses

PLATO TOWNSHIP – Two horses died Friday in a barn fire on Corron Road in Plato Township, according to a news release from the Kane County Sheriff's Office.

According to the release, officials were called to the scene of the fire at a barn at 9N067 Corron Road at 2:40 p.m. Friday. Three horses were inside the barn – named Maverick, Ghost and Buddy. Maverick was able to escape, but Ghost and Buddy were not, and they died at the scene, the release stated.

The fire resulted in a total loss of the barn, according to the release. There were no other animals in the barn at the time of the fire, and no people were injured, the release stated. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
